Greek language support

I have a problem with a Greek language (I think that the locales is ok)
But when I try to write e.g. a filename in Greek language everything
seems to be ok in moment after
I saved the filename, in XFM or (KDE Desktop) appears
like this '??????????'.
Is anything I can do to solve this problem?
(note that I can read the greek filename correct from
gimp file selection !)
