Hi.
As my signature says, I am very, very new to all of this and find all these terms and coding and linux in general very confusing, but I am very willing to learn!!
I have an eee 900 pc with Xandros. I just recently figured out how to open the console and I have also succesfully followed a guide to get full desktop mode.
I have wine installed, but I think not am not sure how to use it yet.
My first and most important problem (right now) is, that I have a mobile broadband usb modem (could be huawei 625?) and my xandros does not recognize it. I get a small CD-like icon in the bottom right corner when plugged in, but it recognises as mass storage device and I am not able to acces it as a storage device either.
When running the hardware test for USB ports, it looks like it is seen as both storage and huawei, but in network connections, 3g, there are no modems to choose.
I have found several guides on how to setup connection, and I have disabled pincode acces with the simcard in a phone.
But I really need help as to getting xandros to recognize this as a modem. (and I am totally not hardcore enough to install a different distro)
Hope this makes a bit sense, and that someone is able to help me??
(oh, and if you need more information, please ask, and also let me know how to find the answer) _________________ Please keep in mind I am totally completely newbie... so please don't assume that I know anything at all on forehand.
Thanks

some cable modems (not all), have what appears to be a printer USB port in the back.
Mine does....and if you have a printer cord, you should be able to plug the printer USB end into the modem....and the other USB end into yout Eee Pc (I have the Eee 701Sd, and I know for a fact that it works with mine)
Then it is just a simple matter of editing your network connections to reflect that you now have a USB network connection.
Hope you've solved this problem by now.
