Not sure how, but the problem seemed to have solved itself.
Thanks anyway, _________________ they say -that in the past the Earth froze over completely for ten million years... then warmed up rapidly about 600 million years ago. Almost all life was wiped out. --Wow! they have lots more faith than I. |

I appreciate the security built into the system!!
I broke my distro and had to reinstall everything. I appreciate the fact that it automatically saves the home folder!! I didn't loose any docs.!!! If it had happened with the other "leading" software, I would have lost everything. appreciate you guys. I am off to pin my system _________________ they say -that in the past the Earth froze over completely for ten million years... then warmed up rapidly about 600 million years ago. Pinning is great and really should be made easier so less people hose their systems. _________________

I'm just glad that there are tutorials that I can just follow the commands. I have no ideal what I am doing, I just know that it is necessary. _________________ they say -that in the past the Earth froze over completely for ten million years... then warmed up rapidly about 600 million years ago. If so, and you get it again, edit the file
/etc/apt/apt.conf
and change the line :
APT::Cache-Limit
to some large figure, like APT::Cache-Limit 10000000; |
I have the same problem, but it is not fixing itself. I have tried various commands at adm console, but I am getting the same error message:
| Quote: |
NGC2070:~# apt-get --purge remove hpijs
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room. Please increase the size of APT::Cache-Limit. Current value: 10000000. (man 5 apt.conf)
E: Error occurred while processing libgnomevfs2-common (NewVersion1)
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/xnv4.xandros.com_4.0_pkg_dists_xandros4.0-xn_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
