I installed Xandros 4 when it first came out and had the same problem with the Add Print Wizard that a lot of other people were having. When I wanted to add a local printer (both my printers are local) as soon as I select LOCAL in the print wizard, it locks up. For me, this is a show stopper because I'm unable to install any printers so I've continued to use Xandros 3 which I really like. However, I would like to change over to Xandros 4 and was wondering if anyone has solved this print wizard lockup problem. If it's been solved, how can I do it?

I hadn't heard of that problem. X4 and printers have behaved quite nicely for me. Have you sent a message to support@xandros.com to see if they have any suggestions?

I hope this helps,

If you have cups installed (which I believe is standard), you can also point your browser to http://localhost:631 and add a printer from there.

My problem is that I HAVE a printer installed and the Printer Wizard pops up now and then asking me if I want to install the "new" USB printer it just found. Mad

How do I make it STOP? Confused

Hi BANDREASEN. Just wanted to let you know that I have the same problem, with the Xandros 4 "Add Printer Wizard" locking up when I try to add a local printer. I have to use local port:631 in my browser to have CUPS install my printers.

Very frustrating that it doesn't work, and even more frustrating that NO ONE seems to have an answer or fix for it!!!???

Anyone from Xandros 4 Support watch or listen to this Board?

I hope we get some useful response. I know that I can use the browser & cups port solution to solve my Printer Management problem, but this is a hack! A Xandros Desktop Premium Linux should have a rock solid Printer Wizard interface!!!

I see we're still being ignored on this issue. I bought Premium as well, but getting answers is like trying to suck marrow out of concrete.

I'm beginning to wonder about the new Linspire...

Have you actually contacted Xandros Support? This is a user-to-user forums, not an official support forums. If you don't contact Xandros Support - and posting on these forums is not the same thing - you shouldn't expect an answer from them.

you need to have a little patience the user forum does a lot to help out and you are not being ignored. but as stated before this is a user forum and it is not our full time job you need to contact the xandros support team they have the more detailed information available to them

I have premium running multiple computers , 2routers, and 3 networked printers(1 inkjet and 2 laser) xandros has detected all printers and works flawlessly on all. Shocked (too much coffee)
