Does anyone know a program that will join .001 files? I don't know what to do with them exactly.

lxsplit should do it.
http://lxsplit.sourceforge.net/
I believe you can also use cat as well. For say video.avi.001 video.avi.002 (etc) you would do:
cat video.avi.* > video.avi

HJsplit is the best too for that. You can split and join those kind of files faster and its free.

Thanks for that, i once had a file with this extension yet didn't know which prog to use ... didn't know it was an avi file !!!
