How do you change terminal screens in Xandros. Other versions you type in ctr-alt-f1 for tty1 , ctrl-alt-f2tty2, etc. Also if I am in another terminal how do I get back to the graphical screen. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, it should still be CRL+ALT+Fn (from 1 to 6 for terminals and 7 should be the one running the GUI).

so to go back to your KDE it should be CTRL+ALT+F7

I've experienced graphics glitches on some cards, where you can't see what your typing on the other terminals.

Booting from Console (Expert) mode, and pressing "Ctrl-D" usually resolves that problem.

Hmm, I think I had those problems in the past aswell but that was when I used a GRUB bootsplash (problem was fixed when I disabled the bootsplash).

On my Xandros machine ctrl+alt+f1,f2 works for me and to return to X I use alt+f7.

It has always worked for me except when I had one of those boot (GRUB) splash screens installed.

They are "nice" if you don't want to see the kernel output but when something goes wrong you cannot troubleshoot (so I removed the splash).

It must be hardware related I remember having that issue on an older version of Lindows but I haven't seen it since. I don't have that machine anymore either so I can't test it.

Well I do have the general impression that Laptops are more open to trouble the desktop systems. All my GRUB problems (LiveCD's and installer CD's not booting were all on Laptops while they ran fine on Desktop systems).

I agree laptops are more problematic but honestly I haven't logged into my desktop in months I use my laptop for everything now it is just way more convenient. Even at work we give out laptops as default now rather than desktops.
I find sitting confined to my desk way to confining now.

Sorry I like my 2 x 24inch widescreen monitors on my desk at home Wink Using the laptop, while nice in the sitting room, is not quite the same as being able to sprawl on the desk! Smile

That's cool I agree there are times when having two displays are invaluable I use two on a daily basis at work myself.

Well I have no "need" for it, but when using Photoshop on a Windows system it's almost mandatory to have them for added "real-estate".

now if Adobe just wants to port their products to Linux ...

I have copies of Photoshop for Windows and Mac I couldn't see justifying the expense to get a Linux copy. I can't even see upgrading from CS2 as it does way more than I need.

Yes, upgrade path from Adobe is not ideal (if you want to go from Photoshop CS for Mac to CS2 for Windows you cannot upgrade you need to buy the full product again.

Anyway I hear that for the average photographer Photoshop 7 is good enough and that CS, CS2 and CS3 add nothing that the photographer might need (I think CS4 has some nice additions but I guess also not enough to justify the price).

problem is that I don't have a version of Photoshop older then CS3 and at the moment CS3 is not supported by Wine.

I keep my old copies I have 4, 5, 6, and cs2 I used to do logos and web sites years ago and could justify the expense. Now I only do graphics for fun when I have some time and the Gimp is good enough for me.
