I'm using a C-media CM8738 modem and Xandros Home Edition Premium 4.0. Xandros detects my modem but gives me the following error when I try to connect:
Failed to initialize the modem
(dialuppppservice.cpp:878)
Edit:Modem is actually a PCTel HSP56 but I believe it is connected to the sound card, which is probably why Xandros reports it as a C-Media CM8738.

Sounds like it is a driver problem. What sort of modem is this? Card, USB, Serial? ?link to a picture and specs? ?manufacturer? _________________ War doesn't determine who's right - only who's left. |

Richard, as I mentioned in your other post, the Intel 536EP is your modem. The C-media CM8738 is actually your sound card. Two separate devices with two different functions.
Can you tell us how you have determined that your modem has been detected?
What is the output from running lspci and lsmod from a console? _________________ If you aint got nothin, you got nothin to loose. |

I actually tried your method for replacing the sound card and I ended up switching out the mainboard because for some reason the previous mainboard wouldn't boot, so my system specifications are no longer the same. My sound does work now within Xandros.
Xandros detects my current modem as a C-media CM8738. However, in windows it works with the HSP56 Micromodem driver. The modem is on board and the motherboard is a PCChips M726. |
