On many sites with my Xandros 4 installs.
I tried installing the latest Linux flash version from both the .tar and the .deb but no go. I realize that both are the same flash but what the heck. Then I also tried placing them manually. Apparently the latest flash doesn't Play with Xandros's older libs.

Anyone else having these problems or have a solution.
I do quite a bit with Flash so if I can't find a solution I will uninstall Xandros which appears to have seen it's day and continue with Kubuntu, KLIKIT or MEPIS which all work fine with the Latest Flash.

Flashplayer 10 seem to require glibc 2.4 or higher, which is not available for Etch or Sarge based distros. To my best knowledge, the latest flashplayer known to work with these older distros is 9.0 r124. Many sites that do not work with Xandros original flash player seem to work with 9.0.124. Unfortenately its very laggy.

You can always try to use the windows version through crossover. Have no better ideas so far how to resolve this in best way.

Latest working flash player for ETch can be found at http://www.debian-multimedia.org

Theres an beta version of "Flashplayer 10" (081108) available, which should work on "XD 4.0-4.5":

This version is working well for me. I use metacafe to test flash as it will usually crash FireFox if flash isn't installed right.
This is on 4.1

I will take a harder look at it. I do know that I am getting pop ups or error messages on sites saying some version of ..Sorry you have a wrong Adobe Flash Version..

A few sites will give that error but that is the price of using proprietary software.

Write the web sites and ask them to use open formats.

I had that problem with Kubuntu, but Adobe has released an alpha version for Linux 64 bit which works quite well (on Firefox Minefield, at least).
The sad part is this 64 bit alpha version simply was a download of a single file, and putting that file in the plugins folder.

I am apparently unable to use flash 10 in Xandros 4.5. I installed Firefox 2.0.18, and then flash 10. The installer says it is installed, the plugin is in the plugins folder, but no flash. I even removed Firefox 2.0.12 that came with Xandros, reinstalled flash and still no go. Kind of show stopper for me. Not really to keen on Xandros 4.5 so far.

Thankfully it works fine (flash 10) in Linspire 5 still. Sure hope Fresspire 5 is released sometime soon, and that it will let me use flash 10.

zoic, Latest official "Flash Player" is compiled against
newer "glibc" and "GTK", than whats available for "Etch".
So, getting it to work - use the beta version.

It works in "Freespire 2.0/Linspire 6.0/Ubuntu 7.04",
because "glibc 2.5" and "GTK 2.10" is used in those.

Thanks for the feedback. I just checked Linspire 5 for glibc, it is using glibc2.2, and Flash Player 10 is working.

OK, well I keep previous version of Firefox with plugins on my USB drive. So I renamed the folder firefox to firefoxold, and then copied the one from myUSB memory stick drive to /usr/lib. IT did not work at all, but this method works fine if I install Linspire 5 on another computer.

So I deleted it, rename firefoxold back to firefox, and then renamed libflashplayer.so to .old. I then copied libflashplayer.so from the folder on my USB memory stick to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins, and now when I check about:config, it shows up as Flash Player 9.0.r124, and it actually works in Firefox 2.0.18 now.

On another note, my USB memory stick does not automatically get an icon when I used it in Xandros 4.5. It does show up in the Xandros File Manager however and has Partition 1 in it ??, but there is no apparent way to unmount it. I used eject, but somehow I do not think that is the same.

Sorry, was thinking about "Linspire 6.0". Anyway, are you
sure that the installed "Flash Player 10" in your "5.0" is the
official and not the Beta version?
