If I add repositories to the sources list then it adds stuff to the synaptic thing. So I download the some of the stuff it adds from synaptic(like cinelerra). So now that i've downloaded what I want is it okay to remover those repositories from the sources list or will that cause cinelerra to not run? I'm just curious. _________________ It's Not The Way You Look That Brings Me To My Knees..........It's The Way You Look At Me!!!!! |

Removing repositories will not affect installed applications - you may not get updates though..

What do you mean by "in synaptic"? Have you downloaded the files without installing them or have you just updated synaptic's list of available apps?

Forget about that question because I have another broader one that'll solve the problem. What would happen if I just deleted all the repositories from the sources list? Would it mess anything up or would it not change anything at all? _________________ It's Not The Way You Look That Brings Me To My Knees..........It's The Way You Look At Me!!!!! |

It will not change any installed programs. If you go to browse for new software, there should be nothing available to choose from.
With Xandros, I always kept only the Xandros supported repos & commented out any others unless there was something specific I wanted. It's just safer that way.
