|
|
Hello!
I just purchased an Asus eee PC and only ran into one problem so far. When I use Skype (which has been upgraded to allow video) it doesn't recognize the webcam. I've read that you have to manually enable it by entering a script. I tried entering what it stated but since it didn't work, I fear that I'm just going to eventually screw it up royally. So, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Jenna |

Hi Jenna112 and welcome to the "Xandros" forums!
Is "CamStream" installed? Its an application which can verify
if the webcam works with the "OS".
Not sure if its available for "EeePC". But we are going to put up
an new repository at www.geekconnection.org suitable for both
"Xandros 4.5" and "EeePC". So stay tuned. _________________ Linux User #432929

Hello Jenna.
Xandros on the "Eee PC" should have "ucview.real 0.14" software automatically installed, if not.
But you can install "uceview" by opening the "terminal" by "Ctrl+Alt+T" then
| Code: | | apt-get install ucview |
Now then it should work.

The skype version that was installed on my eeepc needed updating before the camera worked within it. I think I did it from skype rather than eeepc instructions/forum, but have a look there to see. _________________ War doesn't determine who's right - only who's left. |

Also, check and be sure that the camera is actually "Enabled" in the BIOS. _________________ Ed Richards

The easy way to check the camera is to just click on the camera prog in the stock eeepc menu. It will either come to life or not. They are supposed to work out of the box, mine did. _________________ War doesn't determine who's right - only who's left. |

I have been seeing this a lot on the Windows platform as well with my clients. Probably the update works out some common bugs and issues that were present in the earlier versions. _________________ If you aint got nothin, you got nothin to loose. |
