This is based of of Etch but the same KDE.

Looks like they are releasing it early.

Download speed is terrible.
Does this have Xandros branding, or Asus branding?

Finally some news. Crappy download speed (0-50KB/s) from "ASUS".
But "SourceForge" works much better (150-200KB/s).

It is Xandros branding.
Some new features.
Kernel 2.6.24.
Etch Based.
Suspend to Ram works very well.
The pipe to Taiwan can be iffy sometimes for Sourceforge might be the prefereable route.

This has Eclipse installed by default and some documentation included for developping for the EeePC.

It also has Gambas installed which is a neat development tool very similar to VB for getting small programs out quickly or for prototyping.

Sorry for no previous notification but Asus wanted to have first release on it.

What is this, an operating system?
Does it only work on those eee PC's or will it work on any PC?
Thanks!

It is a full O/S. It has the same library versions as the EeePC so if you develop on the OC 4.5 you will be able to run it on the EeePC.

The OC will run on any PC or Laptop.

I've had a few issues with my XPS Gen 2 that I will post in the laptop forum later to give help to people with similar issues.

Locked and loaded Smile.

Made some quick tests. "OCE 4.5" lacks many important applications and packages
in the main repository. But packages from "Debian Etch", "Backports", "Multimedia",
"Volatile" and "Community" servers, including parts of the applications compiled for
the earlier versions could make "Xandros" usable again.

The eXPerimenting continues Wink ...

Why? So you can pay an MS tax, get poor performance and have zero added value?
Or is it because you have turned in to nothing more than a pathetic trollboy?

It's sad to think you think that Windows gives poor performance and has zero value. I think quite the opposite. Windows works great.

By the way if you could keep your personal attacks out of the conversation I would appreciate it.

And if you could stop plugging windows in a Linux forum everyone else in here will appreciate it.

No this is a final release.
It went though Beta with Asus as well as the base is very similar to our Server product and the base is very much the same as the Asus desktop.

What Confused, have trashed "XD4.5" ten times already Rolling Eyes by eXPerimenting Twisted Evil.
Its easy - the gene manipulation resulted in "Etros" or "Lenros" something.
An "Sidros" reinkarnation is the next project. But, how can "XFM" and all
other "Xandros" specialitys easely be kept when upgrading "KDE"?
