Hello all
Anyone know of a pool/billards game that works well in Xandros?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes. Both Billard-GL and FooBillards work great in Xandros. Both are 3d games and require a good working 3d card. I have used the GeForce 2, 3, and 4 with great results.
Both are available in the Debian sources.
Website for Billard-GL is:
http://www.tobias-nopper.de/BillardGL/index-en.html
Website for FooBillard is:
http://foobillard.sunsite.dk/
Hope you find them as enjoyable as I do. |

Since this box has an integrated S3 video, I guess that I'm stuck with "gtkpool", at least for the time being. I would probably replace the S3 with a PCI card if I knew which one to buy. I'm fairly sure that I would see an overall performance boost in all apps if I had a better card. I've tried the apps you suggest, but the performance was terrible.
Thanks for your response.

| Thats too bad. Both are great games. I have used a GeForce card with these games with good results. I think a GeForce2 is only going to cost you around $30. Could you simply disable the onboard video and stick a GeForce 2 in your system? |

I just ordered a BFG Asylum Geforce4 MX440-SE for this box. I hope I did the right thing. I'm not sure how I'll have to disable the onboard card. It is my understanding that some use jumpers and some don't.
I guess I'll find out in due time, huh?
What do ya think?

Usually all you have to do is go into the bios/cmos setup and turn it off in there. I suppose some boards will make us work harder by using jumpers on the board for enable/disable. Check your cmos setup and see if you have the option in there. I am using a GeForce 4 with great results. Its a eVGA 128 MX440 SE and works fine in Xandros. Hope yours works out well too. |

I didn't see the enable/disable feature in setup that you spoke of. It could very well be that I overlooked it though. I'll have to do some checking on the manufacturers' web site for the mainboard and card. I should have the new card first of next week and then I will see how it goes. I'll post the results/any problems.
Thanks again.

The new card installed without a problem. Xandros recognized it and loaded the nvivia drivers the first bootup. But for the life of me, I can't get "foobillard" to install without depend. problems. Billard -gl seems to be ok. Can you tell me what packages you used and if you had any installation problems?
