|

OK, I'm baffled by this one. When I upgraded to Xandros 4, it had no problem detecting and using my HP OfficeJet G85 multifunction printer. I later installed the HP Multifunction Printer Driver (xandros-hpoj) from Xandros Networks, and that worked fine too.
Until a few weeks ago, when the printer stopped printing. When I ask to print a test page, it queues ok in the Print Jobs, but just sits there, and nothing comes out.
Here's the kicker: when I reboot back to Xandros 2 on this same machine -- it's still installed, as a dual-boot -- the printer functions perfectly. So I know it's not the printer hardware.
Also, Xandros 4 can still see the scanner, and that still works.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer; uninstalling and reinstalling xandros-hpoj. No help. If I power-cycle the printer, Xandros detects a new USB device and launches the Add printer Wizard, but that doesn't help either.
It's clear I need something more sophisticated in the way of diagnosis. Can anyone help? |

Take a look at http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Printing-Usage-HOWTO-2.html one of the first examples is cat thesis.txt > /dev/lp you can see if it is KDE stuck or the the system itself. _________________

| I forgot to mention: I have another printer connected to this computer (on the parallel port), and access to a network printer. Both of those work fine from KDE. |

| ls -l | lpr worked fine when sending to my parallel printer. I switched my default printer to the OfficeJet, and repeated the command, and I can see the job in the Print Jobs queue, but it's stuck in "processing" state and isn't printing anything. |
