I had the same problem with mplayer. I managed to remove it with:
apt-get remove mplayer
& via ["Find"] searched entire computer for mplayer & deleted it all
I did the ["Find"] & delete for kplayer but there is still a trace(s) of kplayer |

"OR" should I say, "I believe that I completely removed mplayer."
There is no trace of mplayer via ["Find"] or XN ..! BUT... via
["Run Command"] / mplayer [ENTER]
& I get this
Service '/root/.local/share/applications/mplayer.desktop' is malformatted.
THE TITLE OF THE [TITLE BAR] of applet is: ( Sorry - KDesktop ) |

S.O.S. ... . ..., "Xandros Networks" is an nice and easy to use application, but lacks
many of the advanced functions found in "Synaptic Packet Manager" (now again), where
you can chose between "Mark for Removal" or "Mark for Complete Removal". There is
also the "History" function where you within GUI easily can track exactly what/when
you installed/uninstalled this or that application and (its) dependie/s.
To install "Synaptic", enable "Xandros Distribution Site" and "Debian Unsupported Site"
in "Xandros Networks", then close it, open "Console" with "Administrator" (root) privilegies
and type "apt-get install synaptic gksu deborphan libgnome2-perl" (without qoutes) and
hit enter.
