after downloading the tar tgz and ...and rpm installed the driver files on xandros network .......the printer shows up ok in printers .. but when i try printing a document the printer queue box displays with the correct document but nothing is printed ....should i dispose of the printer or is there a simple solution ?

if i cant print i cant xandros ! i

any advise is most welcome !

You didn't explain where you got the packages?
I don't know your printer but here are two methods...

added the line
deb http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takushi/debian ./

to etc/apt/sources.list
saved the file

then in a console window typed

# apt-get update (as root)

Get:1 http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp ./ Packages [1656B]
Ign http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp ./ Release
Err http://xnv4.xandros.com xandros4.0-xn/main Packages
Could not connect to xnv4.xandros.com:80 (1.0.0.0), connection timed out
Err http://xnv4.xandros.com xandros4.0-xn/main Release
Could not connect to xnv4.xandros.com:80 (1.0.0.0), connection timed out

this is sources.list

deb http://xnv4.xandros.com/4.0/pkg xandros4.0-xn main contrib non-free

got canon printer working using driver at mambo site ..thanks for all replies and the very good advise ....
