I have not had a problem with needing growisofs 7.0. However, I built dvd+rw-tools 7.0, which contains growisofs, and it is available for download here:

Greetz
I have used and loved K3B for years now on my Slackware box and have an earlier (than 1.0) version running on my Xandros 3 box. However it is not uncommon to have to "jump through hoops" to install even the earlier versions so I feel confident that some Xandros v4 folks and likely many, many v3 folks (as it appears there is little, if any, support for v3, Hell! for almost a year now) will have problems until it actually ends up at the very least on "unsupported". This may even break a few systems until it gets fully accredited for "supported" and again that will probably leave v3 folks flapping in the breeze.
So here's a decent solution that won't break 90% of even v3 folks' boxes and may possibly work on v2 with a little research. Try X-CD-Roast! It is listed in "unsupported" for v3 but requires none of the KDE devel libraries that are part of what has plagued Xandros for so long since it is KDE which has been so heavily used and also *modified* to suit Xandros's special setup/needs/capabilities. This is the tightrope companies must walk when then "go proprietary", balancing benefit of those changes vs/ how much harder it is to prepare for them (in this case, take advantage of OSS).
In any case X-CD-Roast is well worth a try and I can tell you that from my experience I barely missed K3B when forced to use X-CD-Roast. It's that good of an alternative (and readily available NOW) with just a little learning curve. The only question I can't answer yet has to do with the apparent fact that ProDVD keys are no longer needed by cdrecord but some older versions of X-CD-Roast still ask for it *if* you wish to do DVD. CD's work just fine. There's even some helpful hints for optimizing your system for best results and I feel confident that if ProDVD key is a problem at all it is a small one and easily worked-around.
Hope this helps
Jimmy
X-CD-Roast is not quite as user-friendly as K3B but it is largely because it can do more and in more different ways. It does however guide one through it's usage quite handily. In just a short time, likely less than a half-hour for most folks familiar with some sort of cd/dvd burn gui, you'll have it down. The help files are very good. |
