This is very, very frustrating. I was about ready to conclude that ogle could not be found. Then with incomplete directions, I finally stumbled upon how. To find ogle, first go to Xandros networks. Then click on expert mode under view. Then click on edit-applications sources. In the window that comes up, enable at least some of the three options for debian sources. Then (this is the part that took me an hour), go to the very bottom of the tree view on the left and click on the search results tab. Type in Ogle in the space at the top left and you'll finally have a listing. Now I wonder which of these is the right one. There is ogle (163KB) and ogle-mmx (167.7KB). There is also several tabs for user interface. Apparently I'll have to guess what to use.
The final step will be install a "lib" file thing to actually get ogle to read standard DVDs. No doubt that will also take 2 days. Maybe I should just play the g.d. things in Windows and skip it. If anyone wants to post EXPLICIT instructions, please do! |

Okay, if you click on the program name, and not the install button, you get the description. It looks like ogle-mmx is the one.
Then, I found this posted elsewhere by Mike. I searched and found ogle in the menu under "applications-viewers" (I expected "multimedia").
"Go to http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/deb/ and download the file labeled:
libdvdcss0_0.0.3.ogle3-1_i386.deb to your home directory.
Go to Launch---Applications----Accessories---System---Administrator Tools and open Xandros Update. Click on File and then Install DEB file.
Go to where you saved the above entioned file and select it to install. "
So now I can see the DVD, but there is no sound. I wonder how to fix that??? |

Arnold,
I am no expert with watching DVD's on the computer. In fact, I have never even tried it under Xandros as I have DVD players on every TV in my house and only a DVD drive in my laptop. Having said all that, here is a link to a HOWTO that I found on doing DVD playback under Xandros using Xine rather than ogle.

I hope this is helpful. _________________ Ed Richards
