|
|
PROBLEM: Your file search program window extends way off screen.
REASON: If you did a search for a file that had an extremely long file name such as a MPEG file that had a sentence title, File Finder will remember that file name in the dropdown form box and extend the window size way off the screen to accomodate the file name hidden in the dropdown.
SOLUTION: Hit the dropdown arrow and find the lengthy filename. Then goto:
LAUNCH/APPLICATIONS/SYSTEM/ADMINISTRATOR TOOLS/XANDROS FILE MANAGER (ADMINISTRATOR)
Next, goto VIEW and select SHOW HIDDEN FILES
Then goto:/home/your directory/.kde/share/config/kfindrc
Right click on the file kfindrc and select OPEN WITH/ TEXT EDITOR
Find the offending file in the list, and delete the file name up to the next comma. Then hit the save button.
Open your File Find program. It should be normal size now!

| Most window managers offer an "easy drag" option for this situation. If you have a window that's too large to see all of. Hold down the Meta key (usually the WIN key on PC keyboards) and drag anywhere on the window. That allows you to see all of the window even if it is 5 times the width of your virtual screen size. |

Another solution is......
solution: I delete the ~/.kde/share/config/kfindrc file.
Next time you open Find, it should be back to normal. _________________
