I have a nice shiny new P4 powered Laptop with a Radeon mobility 7500 graphics card.
Every time I try to run glxgears I get an "illegal instruction" error.
What I have found is that this problem is due to MESA tring to execute a 3DNOW instruction which my Intel P4 chip rejects.
Anyone have an idea on how to deactivate 3DNow?

I tried adding the command:
export MESA_NO_3DNOW="Y" to /etc/profile but it did not work.
