| Will there every be a monthly subscription fee for Xandros Networks such as Lindows Click n Run? God I hope not! |

I'd say it won't happen. Xandros has apt-get installed, and if you uncomment the three Debian servers in /etc/apt/sources.list, you can run apt-get install <program> and it will automatically download a program and install it straight off of the Debian servers. Making XN need a fee would just make more people not buy Xandros, and the few that do buy/already have Xandros would just use apt-get to get their programs.

Lindows is based on Debian as well, and you can use apt-get in it too, but they charge a yearly fee for click n run. And most of the programs in click n run are out dated, and you can get more up to date programs through apt-get. The only thing that subscription offers you is a FEW commercial apps. But once you download them you can go back and download them forever, even if you're no longer subscribed to click n run. It's a rather dumb system. |
