Only Problem With Xandros install
I installed xandros and everything went fine except for my sound card.
I have a compaq pc; pentium 3 its kind of old
with a built in sound card
in windows it is called an ESS Audio Drive and works fine.
I don't really know what you need to help me so just post if you need to know something

Try the following link:
http://forums.xandros.com/viewtopic.php?t=12056
This machine has an ESS1868 card and was loaded using the data in the above reference.

Choose the driver that most probably suits your card.
In my case the 'key to the door' was hidden in the bios. I found that more than one driver would work.

I have a Compaq Presario 1245, K6-2 333, 160mb ram, 20 gig hdd, and ESS 1869 onboard audio. This is what I did to get my sound working great (all the time by the way):
To enable sound, simply run modconf (if you don't have it installed, get it through Xandros Networks) and select the sb module from
kernel/drivers/sound. Add these arguments to the dialog that appears:
io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma16=5
The module should install successfully, and modconf updates everything
necessary to survive a reboot.
Go to the Sounds in the Control Panel and uncheck where it says Full Duplex. Restart, and everything works just fine. _________________ Carpe Noctem |
