I'm currently taking requests for applications to package.

If anyone has seen a program they would like to use in xandros post it here and I'll see what I can do, include the name of the program and a link. I know ea has mentioned making a post like this also...so anyone with packaging skills is welcome to "answer the call" of a fellow user.

If you don't have a website to post the package to take a look at www.xandros.or.id To have rights to upload packages you'll have to register to both the forums and the download section of www.xandros.or.od . Then send a PM to either matty:

http://www.xandros.or.id/forum/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=2

or myself:

http://www.xandros.or.id/forum/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=9

All uploads are subject to approval, maximum file size is 2MB

Take a look at www.kde-apps.org for any apps you'd like to run.

Do you mean if I saw a program like this http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=14826
you would try to package it so it can be easily installed in Xandros?

Not a good example - that's one you have to buy (well, make an involuntary donation) so they wouldn't appreciate anyone taking the download, packaging and distributing the package free.

Neat looking app though ! Probably worth the 5 Euros.

Oh I see. Would the same thing apply to this program?

The required donation is ONLY for the convenient binary package download.

The application itself is licensed under the GPL, and the source code is available free of charge.

However, if the author(s) want to fund development by selling their service of providing pre-packaged binary downloads, I agree with the above poster's sentiment in choosing not to undermine their efforts and value of generously licensing their work under the GPL.

But that's just me. Someone else may have a different take on it.

If you like the application, and find it valuable, a mere 5 euro shouldn't be any sort of deterrence. It's a reasonable price. Surely you can skip your Starbucks Mochaccino for two days to pay for it.

Andrew,

Has anyone packaged Mythtv for Xandros3 yet? I wouldn't mind having that one if it would be possible.

You can find it here: www.mythtv.org

try launch>applications>graphics>digital camera

that's digiKam. Skin looks different though - it's the "marine" theme not the default.

Good Lord! You mean I had digiKam and didn't realize it?
I really should drink some coffee before using my computer.

Thanks for the Qtiplot package Andrew.

May I suggest knoda.
This is a gui front end for proper databases - similar to MS Access but you need a brain.

There is a Debian package but you still have to add dependencies.

www.knoda.org.

It all seems to work but it does add "KFile::File" to the file type box when you open a new file in Text editor. No other known hiccups.

Martin Welsh

Ahh, now here is a suggestion. What about kxdocker? There are debs all over but running into dependency with older kdelib4 on Xandros as well as pnglibs.

Again Andrew you amaze me. This will help in getting a theme I am working on up and running.
Thanks again.
Eric.
P.S. where do you plan to put it? on Matty's or archlug?

Oh yea - I'd like to add my vote for that one.

How about the WINE package? Not Crossover, just the newest WINE? I am running 2.5 biz, but will be trying out the 3.0.1OCE to see how it goes before getting the Box Set Laughing
