If anyone could help with my winTV to go (model 190) from hauppauge. How do i know if Xandros set it up right??Also i looked in launch menu and didn't find no apps to use with the tv card , is there a app on Xandros network that i'm missing?? because the only app I see under multimedia is more skins for XMMS.

Thanks for any help/info in advanced.

I don't know anything about your particular TV card, but I use the ATI TV Wonder VE card and it works great. I use MoTV to actually watch it. I downloaded it from Xandros Networks. You will have to do some research to see if your specific card is supported under Linux. You may want to look at the Video4Linux project.

I hope this helps,

Hi trash

I have an older Hauppage WinTV card myself and it took a lot of digging back in my Redhat days to figure out why it wouldn't work. Here's what I did to get it working, you might not have to do everything that I did.

1) I added the following lines to my /etc/modules.conf file to identify the card and tuner type. You can put them anywhere but I added them to the tv-catpure section. The tuner type is correct I think but if you have a newer wintv card you might need to change your card number to 10 or 13.

options bttv radio=0 card=2 pll=0
options tuner type=2

2) Save the file and reboot.

3) set Xandros network to expert and do a search for xawtv or motv and install it. xawtv asks you several questions and does a channel scan if you ask it, I'm not as familiar with motv yet.

From this point mine works. I installed both xawtv and motv which I find a bit friendlier.

I had the winTV-GO and currently have the WinTV - radio installed use motv and/or xawtv with no problem - both viewers installed with apt-get after enabling the optional package sources setup in xandros. Othewise, nothing special was done to get either board working. I use fm, acquired the same way, for fm tuner operation with the winTV - radio.

I think the newer cards work 'out of the box' but I couldn't get mine to work under Redhat of Xandros without adding those two lines to modules.conf. I've no idea why other than it's one of the older cards.

fizzol,

You mentioned in your post that you modified the /etc/modules.conf file. I need to do that as well to pass a few options to my TV card, but, there is a BIG warning at the beginning of the file saying "DO NOT MODIFY THIS FILE!". Then, a little further down in the file it says "THIS FILE WILL BE OVERWRITTEN EACH TIME YOU INSTALL DEVFSD!!! Modify /etc/modules.conf instead." But, /etc/modules.conf is the file that I am reading from and was instructed NOT TO MODIFY. All that being said, what file do I actually modify to change /etc/modules.conf to incorporate the paramaters for the ATI TV Wonder VE card, or do I just go ahead, ignore the warning, and make the changes? If I do make them, will the changes be retained after a restart?

Thanks,
