That's right XOID is not just a download site anymore. Now you can install all these great packages right from Xandros Networks!
Here's how:
1. Open Xandros Networks and goto Edit |Set Application Sources
2. Check the Debian Unsupported Site
3. Click on Add
4. Paste in the following line, and then click OK: | Code: | | deb http://www.xandros.or.id/archive xxx main | Now just Search for one of these Apps in Xandros Networks, and Install it!
Featuring:

You want to put any of those up on the ArchLUG repository, Andrew?
You know what to do. If I see 'em turn up this week, I'll unpack them for you.
Except for stuff that is not freely distributable. Yada Yada. You know the drill. _________________ Thanks for all the fishes, Xandros. |

How do I setup/install them. I am a linux newbie but would like several of these programs to run in my system. In particular f-prot and a firewall. Do I need to download anything else for f-prot? Please help. _________________ "Still learning" XandrOS not just a whim but a way of life! |

Download and install by clicking on them. A dialogue will come up. choose install through Xandros Networks.
As far as setup, each program has their own setup routines. I don't use a software firewall so I don't know about that. f-prot is a command line program. Qt-fprot is the GUI for it. No setup required for QT-fprot, although you can set options in the main screen, You run f-prot from a console like this for example:
fprot /
This will check your whole file system.
or f-prot <path to directory to check>
there are also a number of command line options. f-prot -help will show them _________________ Rich Bacchetta

I have found that I don't need Guard Dog (which I have already installed) as my router firewall is giving me all of the protection I need and Guard Dog is quite complicated to configure (at least for me), how do I uninstall it? _________________ "Still learning" XandrOS not just a whim but a way of life! |

If you installed through XN you can find it via XN and just click uninstall.
or
from the console, apt-get remove guarddog _________________ Rich Bacchetta

I did install it via XN but it as well as Qtfprot are not listed anywhere so I will uninstall it using apt-get. Be well. _________________ "Still learning" XandrOS not just a whim but a way of life! |

I've just added Kasablanca 0.4.0.2.
I'm using KFTPGrabber, which is nice, but quite unstable.
So, I've decided to make my own deb file (only rpm & sources are available) at official website: http://kasablanca.berlios.de/
I followed Chrisw advices he posted in april 2004 to make the deb file. tested here, and working fine.
I needed to make it:
Xandros 3 Deluxe + SP1
C/C++ dev tools
KDE dev tools
checkinstall
i followed these steps:
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
su
make install
Hope it will be soon available, i find this FTP client better than KFTPGrabber.
Cheers,
jam
PS: one point now fixed: NO shortcut created in the launch menu.
Command to run the app is: kasablanca _________________ |

This is a drawback of using checkinstall, to make your package fit in better with Xandros I recommend you take a look at this:

Thanks again, great app!!

Andrew,
I'm really happy to please the nice Xandros community.
Kasablanca has better features than FTPGrabber, even if some few are still missing (unhide/hide hidden files, ping/noop command, tree with dir within the bookmarks or FXP sepeed/time information.)
I had a look at your link with your explanaitions. I'm not sure to follow you, as I'ma real newbie in compilating application. I'll have a look deeper, and will try to go further. Like adding the SSL within gFTP for example
Cheers,
