While installing xandros the Administrator password was given.
I am able to logon to Xandros at system startup, but when I try to logon to Xandros Management Console using Administrator password, the authentication fails.
Does anybody have any information about what could be causing the authentication to fail for xMC or xDMS Administrator.
Thanks |

Go into regular console and type su
enter password
and see if it brings you up.
Check your caplocks

Remember that xDMS Administrator will be different from Root.
When logging into xDMS Console you have to use your xDMS Administrators name and password. _________________ Kevin MacPherson

I logged in the first time (a new PC with Xandros preinstalled) and wrote down what I thought the password was. I also created a personal account. But now I cannot log in to any administrator functions, including su.
Can I reset this password or do I need to reinstall Xandros? If so, how, with the start up disk?

I have had the same problem. It worked OK until I installed the latest update, and now I cannot log into XDMS. I set the same password for Administrator as I did for user on initial installation as I am the only person using it. I am going to have to reinstall - cannot see any other option. _________________ Peter Buckland |

Just a guess, but try typing the following as root at the command prompt the next time this happens. I'm a little vague on exact details but if I recall this worked.
# db4.1_recover -h /var/lib/davinci/ldap
# /etc/init.d/slapd restart
# /etc/init.d/xandros-dvmonitor restart
