I have exactly the same error messages, and I am also using the "free distribution."
Can someone please tell us if this is a Xandros server problem or something we have setup / not setup on our machines
Otherwise, a wonderfully friendly distro

Maybe the "free" service is down for repairs or upgrading?
Check your SLA and call support if it's a problem you are unable to wait out more than a couple of days, although the Xandros Networks repository has probably somewhere close to a 99.99% uptime track record for the last three years.
