|
|
Hello,
I have just installed Xandros. The first few times I used it it worked OK.
Now after I get the desktop whenever I click the mouse on the Launch Button the system locks up. I have tried cntrl-alt-bksp and cntrl-alt-F1 and nothing happens.
I'm not sure what do about this.
Thanks for any help. |

Does the same thing happen as root? Never seen this before. _________________ Spyware, Adware and Viruses? What Spyware, Adware and Viruses! I use OS X & GNU/Linux!

Hello,
Yes it also happens as root. I tried turning the computer off and starting again a couple of times and get the same thing.
One odd thing that happened during install. I had windows on one drive and Corel Linux on another. If I selected take over disk it would only show the windows drive. But if I selected partion drive it would show both drives, and then if selcected back, and then take over disk it would show both drives. I tired this a couple of times also, and always got these same results. I don't know if one has anything to do with the other. |

I would try a clean install or removing the corel partion and during install tell xandros to use the free space. _________________ Spyware, Adware and Viruses? What Spyware, Adware and Viruses! I use OS X & GNU/Linux!

Hello,
Sorry, but I was not as through as I should have been in testing the problem.
The problem only occurs when I log in as root, if I log in as a user, no problem. If I log in as root, key board selections work fine, but as soon as I click the mouse, the entire system locks up, and cntrl-alt- bcksp or cntrl-alt-F1 do not work. If I right click the menu appears before it locks up
I was changing some desktop themes and looking at harware configuations, but did intentionally change any hardware settings.
I cn log on as root in the expert mode, but am not sure what to do to corect the problem.
Thanks for the responses. |

Since I last talked to you my system went totally crazy also. For no reason it started to run like molases and even a reboot took nearly 30 minutes. After a few more reboots the Kernel would no longer initialize and I was left with blinking keyboard lights and a kernel error message. I tried a recovery first which failed with no Xandros install found message and after a complete reinstall I still have the same results (very slow boot and then crashes during reboot). I installed a couple of other OS's (Libranet and Lycoris) to see if the HD was failing but they run fine. I put alote of time and effort into configuring the system just to have it melt down. I'm really disappointed and emailed support to offer me a solution or refund. I had no HW changes and it ran fine for nearly a week and then...puff!!!!!!!!!! _________________ Spyware, Adware and Viruses? What Spyware, Adware and Viruses! I use OS X & GNU/Linux!

Hello,
I have discovered some other quirks about my problem.
If I log in as root and first press Alt-F1 to get the launch menu and then press the mouse button everything works fine after that. If I hit the mouse button first, or use some other keyboard shortcuts and then the mouse button the system completely locks-up and I have to shut down.
As such I can work around the problem, but would be intereseted in finding a solution.
Thank you |

I figured out my problem which is a Xandros bug and did a work around. I discovered the problem by scanning thru my root log file under /root/beta-log _________________ Spyware, Adware and Viruses? What Spyware, Adware and Viruses! I use OS X & GNU/Linux!
