This post says it does work with the extra SourceForge drivers:

I get the initial screen to load but I get errors trying to either preview or scan. The scanner just sits there like a lump snoozing away as if it never sees the drivers? Anyone else hit this hurdle?

Currently I'm using the Xerox copier in the office to scan to PDF, then email it to my dev box, and then I am ready for sending the doc through internet fax to the right people.

Seems like a huge effort (I can't stay chubby with all this walking) when I have a good scanner connected to my machine.. Heck if it wasn't for the cost of long distance calls I'd just drop em into the Xerox and tell it to do the faxing.
