Using a newer version of Skype is doable you need to go to the following link http://www.skype.com/download/skype/linux/choose/ and download the Dynamic Static Static OSS version (don't get the one for Xandros it is etch based so won't work) unzip it you can put it in your home directory or in /opt (that's where I put it) now use the menu editor (right click on the start menu) and change the links in the installed version of skype to point to this one or if you don't have one already just add it in.

HI Tekmate:

I have just tried this.

On the face of it, it LOOKs like it is installed and running.

However, if I attempt a CALL to someone (eg, Skype Test Call), or attempt to view the SOUND DEVICES option in OPTIONS, then the Skype just crashes and disappears.

Any ideas?

Yes it did (does. Ive reverted back). Didnt/doesnt have a problem at all on the 1.3.0.53.

Try editing you AUDIO settings in ooptons, or try a test call and see what happens.

Unfortunately I currently don’t have Xandros installed on my laptop I switched it out for PhoenixOS I do still have a couple of servers running Xandros I’ll see if I can’t test it on one of them and let you know.

Sorry it took so long but it works fine here it may have to do with the sound card you are using. Mine is just a built in cheapie on this box.

Indeed mine is too. (Not sure how to look up the name or system on Linux. Perhaps you can advise).

The motherboard is just a cheap thing with it built in and the xandros install is as standard as they come. Maybe there's someone that can advise on checking settings or looking up crash log files that may advise on what it happening when the crash happens. (I really am that novice around a linux operating system)

Tekmate/anyone, Would you know how/where I can look up into any crash log files or configuration issues that May give me some clues?
