I am apparently unable to use flash 10 in Xandros 4.5. I installed Firefox 2.0.18, and then flash 10. The installer says it is installed, the plugin is in the plugins folder, but no flash. I even removed Firefox 2.0.12 that came with Xandros, reinstalled flash and still no go. Kind of show stopper for me. Not really to keen on Xandros 4.5 so far.

Thankfully it works fine (flash 10) in Linspire 5 still. Sure hope Fresspire 5 is released sometime soon, and that it will let me use flash 10.

I downloaded Firefox 3.0.14, and installed the Flashplayer 9.0 from Geekconnections.org.
I pulled a flash file from my windows version of Firefox, and now my Firefox syas it has Flash 10.0 r32.
I had done the same thing when we were stuck with a older version of Flash for linux...before they released Flashplayer 9 I think it was.
Works fine for me....I couldn't ever get 3.5 to install....so I said to hell with it.
3.0.14 is easy to just unzip....movie it to /home/glenn/.mozilla ....use my Menu Editor to point to it under my Xandros Start menu....and voila...I'm surfing.

Heres an upgradeable Firefox 3.5.1 DEB for Xandros Desktop 4.5:
http://www.piratesladd.com/repository/xandros_45etch/internet/mozilla/firefox/
firefox_3.5.1-1xandros45.deb

Read the "howto" before installing and using:

Doc is there any way to install Firefox 3.5 without breaking anything?
I love my VLC, and when I installed Firefox 3.5....the dependencies I needed to install...one of them deleted several programs I need....VLC being one of them.
Is there like a updated VLC that will run with Xandros once you have upgraded Firefox??

It may be necessary to install some uninstalled applications again
after updating GTK. Have you tried that, within "Synaptic"?

I have just got the latest version of Flash 10 installed and running on my Xan4.1 FF2.0.0.16 without problems listed above. All the sites I found that force me to pick and choose between different Flash9 (standard) flash 10.0.0 or latest flash10's now all working in harmony.

The answer was found in the posting here on THIS thread on page 2. ( http://forums.xandros.com/viewtopic.php?p=223859#223859)

In essence, it points you to this link: http://svolli.org/software/eeepc/#flash10patcher

which is a patcher.

1, Download the patcher
2, download the latest flash and save to patcher directory
3, run the patcher
4, copy the resultant flash.so into the plugins directory

Job done. Well done to Tekmate.

(Read the thread, they give you the same instructions but with more detail)

The patcher changes the flash plugin binary to stop asking for a later version of a library that doesnt exist on the Xandros.
