|
|
I've installed the Server 2 Trial on 2 different machines and with the standard install out of the box can login to Xmc Ok. I open Xandros networks and it tells me of 1 Critical Update - SSH and SSL and a couple of high priority updates, one of which is to the Xandros Networks itself to enable continued functionality of XN.
The critical update goes in fine but the XN update causes the server to freeze and when rebooted access to the XMC is denied with an error of "You do not have administrative privileges on any server"
I've reinstalled at least 5 times over the last couple of days over the 2 machines but can't get past that stubborn wee update. Bit of an irony really as it was update hell on a Microsoft network that has caused my client to want to try something different.
I could choose to ignore that update and pretend it's a Windows box but it kinda goes against that grain so any suggestions would be gratefully received |

You might want to contact Xandros support for help with that, although I'm sure if there's anybody here among the users that can help, they'll jump in sooner or later. support@xandros.com I think is the email address.

Tooltime,
I feel your pain and typically Jim would be correct in telling you to ask Xandros support fo help. I can tell you from experience (painful) that tech support won't help you AT ALL because you're using the DEMO version and they only will offer support for paying customers. I, with the same feelings as you, wanted to step away from windows and furnish a server line on Xandros. Well the BUCK stopped at Ver 1 when even a bought version would get you email support weeks after you submit it with no real answers and you stuck with whatever work around you can come to grips with. Simply stated Stop wasting your time with Xandros server and find something else. Two good distros to look at are Ubuntu and Business Edition Linux (pclosbe.org) a PCLinuxOS derivitive. Great forum participation and typically good support. But that's just my two cents worth.
Hope this helps! _________________ Running on many systems, multi booting up to 5 Linux OSs on a demo machine, started when it was Coral Linux. Need to know more; just ask.

Hi,
Can you try to restart the dvservices from command prompt.
I tried the same updates and was not able to duplicate the issue mentioned by you.
I will try this again on a different machine and let you know what is the result.
Thanks,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. Could you please let me know in a bit more detail what you regard as dvservices as I'm unable to find anything by this name and under the list of services running the closest process I can find is the dvmonitor
Thanks |
