I've had this problem before with the usps.com website. When I attempt to print a label, Adobe (V.7) does not pop up. I unchecked the fast view under Adobe internet settings, but I still get no adobe pop-up w/ label. But sometimes I get a frozen browser window.

Then I contacted USPS about the problem. A rep said that I need the latest version of Adobe Reader, so I downloaded an rpm from adobe.com and attempted to install in through XN.

First, I uninstalled Adobe V.7 at XN. Then attempted to install the rpm. XN took a few minutes, gave me a message that it converted the .rpm to a .deb file, said it was done, but said nothing about installing it. I checked and sure enough, I had no Adobe Reader of which to speak! Where's that debian file?

Since then I put back Adobe V.7. I need to know what went wrong. What else do I need to do?

I didn't have this problem with printing labels a few weeks ago at usps.com. Actually, this problem has been off and on at usps.com over the last few years. I'm trying to figure out who's really screwy here.

Try it manually and see if you get any errors. Open a konsole and cd to the directory holding the rpm and type

It seems that XN actually did it's job. The problem is the package provided by adobe; it's just a bunch of shell scripts that got installed in the opt directory - relatively useless to a linux newbie like myself who just wants to get to the .pdf files. Since this is a software thing this post is closed.

I have the same problem trying to print labels from USPS.

I installed win2K in virtual box and the updates from Adobe install and work and I can print labels.

Might seem like a lot to go thru to print a label, but I print a lot of labels.

Hi onsa1,

Did you remove the linux adobe reader first? I assume you're using crossover; I've always had trouble with crossover, so I never bothered with it. Does the Win2K adobe reader work with the linux Firefox browser or do you also have to install Internet Explorer? I've tried installing IE6 in crossover in the past, but it always failed for one reason or another.
