I recently installed Xandros 4.1 OCE and noticed that it did not appear to have digikam as part of the package. I don't think that 3.02 OCE came out without digikam. One of the first additions that I made to 4.1 OCE was Synaptic. I used that to install k3b and digikam. Now, all is well.

"Ehh, what's up, JIM?"

Here is an usable "Digi-deb" for download (and other stuff also):
ftp://boisson.homeip.net/sarge/sarge/digikam_0.8.0-1-1_i386.deb
Using it myself...

Smile Doctore

digikam is in the repositories under Synaptic and that is what I used. Working fine. By the way, I notice you over on my other forum too.

I was looking on the DigiKam website, and the new version looks really nice, more features and a nicer interface than the one provided with X4. Would any of the compiling gurus like to take a stab at copiling a version for X4? They claim that the current beta release is stable enough for production work, so maybe we could even have the latest and greatest available. Ben

Dont know whos the other "Doctore" is over at PCLOS Forum.
The "CrAzY FiN" is only registered at Xandros...

Anyway, did you check which version you have? Version 0.7 is available
from"Debian Unsupported Site". When having "Premium membership" the
newer "Xandros" version should probably be available.

I think Photo Manager is available to everyone.
Just do a quick search for it in XN.

Yes, but the latest Xandros version is 0.8.2. The current DigiKam stable version is 0.9.1, and appears to incorporate a number of significant new features and enhancements.

Is there any way to get the later versions of Digikam? I have version 0.72, as have some others if these posts are accurate. I tried to download more updated versions from the geekconnection repo, but I got a "broken packages" error. It would be nice to get at least the 0.8 series of Digikam, unless for some reason that messes up the Xandros-specific customizations (are there any for Digikam?).

I'd appreciate any thoughts on this from our many "experts" in this forum---thanks! DR

Be sure to enable the Xandros supported and unsupported repositories as well, and try again.

Let me know if it doesn't work for you. Wink

It worked this time! I had been trying to update from the standard view............ when I tried the version of Digikam in "expert view", it installed version 0.80---much better! The "plugins" from there did not install (broken packages again), but maybe they're not needed with the higher version.

Thanks for your help........... DR

I'd certainly be interested in a new Photo Manager package. The newer versions support my wife camera, the currant Xandros version does not. We get around it by using a card reader, but it would be nice to just plug in the camera and load straight into Photo Mgr. Very Happy Very Happy

digikam_0.8.0-1-1_i386.deb is the current version on geekconnection.org.

Add this to your sources:
Code:
http://www.geekconnection.org xandros4 main

Or you can download from this link:

Hi cyrilb and welcome to "Xandros" forum.

Use "Album" > "Import" function and import an picture/folder of pictures
into "DigiKam" (PhotoManager), just doubleclick on the/an picture and
start editing the picture/s with the inbuilt "Image Editor".
