When I click the clock to adjust the date and time which is off usually by one or two hours exactly, I get the following error:
"The Time Zone defined at the system level seems invalid. Using "America/New York as default."

[img]http://users.cvalley.net/n0vxd/N0VXD_files/error.jpg

When I get into the window to change date and time properties, If I click the time zones drop down box I get the following error: "listDir: Could not open directory > usr".

Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds like a permissions error. What does it do when you login as the root (Administrator)?

I get the exact same error when logged on as root.

I also tried running tzselect from console as root and got the following error:

APRS:~# tzselect
/usr/bin/tzselect: line 53: /usr/share/zoneinfo/iso3166.tab: No such file or dir ectory
/usr/bin/tzselect: time zone files are not set up correctly
APRS:~#

I figured it out, I just copied the zoneinfo directory from usr/share/zoninfo/*.* from one xandros pc to another.

Apparently the folder had been corrupted or something.

Wow, the same thing happened to me when I attempted to install automatic password generator (APG) at XN. The install was a mess. As far as I know, it messed up two apps: gphoto2 and my clock applet. I noticed that my zone directory was completely gone from usr/share. Why would an APG install do that? I had no idea I was asking for something so complicated.

BTW: Thanks for the zoneinfo dir.

I traded my model-T in for a Firebird a while back. Now I have OSS 11.3. Actually, it's more like the controls of a jetliner, so I have to be careful because it's not idiot proof, but at least I can recover from crashes quickly AND I can download the hottest apps with no worries about breaking the package. I am so sorry for you, Xandros. Embarassed
