|
|
Strange behavior on this 1501... Launch|Logout produces the center-of-screen set of options to Log Out, Shut Down, or Restart... but it often only flashes onto the screen, and by the time I've used the touchpad to slide the cursor over to it, it's gone.
Another problem: sometimes when the cursor is left on an item (maybe it's a Quicken transaction, or something in Xandros File Manager) that item is opened. I've copied one file to a different folder, then left the cursor somewhere in XFM, and suddenly XFM was copying something to somewhere (depending on where the cursor happened to be, I guess).
I didn't see anything OBVIOUS in CC's "mouse" section. Combined with my sound ( http://forums.xandros.com/viewtopic.php?t=31202 ) and modem problems, the new Dell is frustrating. _________________ --John

Yeah I have always had TouchPad issued in versions 3 & 4..
Xandros doesn't address the Synaptic Touchpad's Tapping feature..
You Tap it is the same as a Mouse Click..or sometimes just create a vibration sometimes.
The cursor will become active wherever it might rest.
MEPIS has addressed this and I can turn it off or adjust sensitivity.. _________________

I turned off touch pad on my Inspiron 8600 as it was giving me similar problems to what you describe. It works ok now. _________________ god bless

Do you mean to say that you turned it off in LINUX and
Now it doesn't work at all..
or that you turned of the Touchpad and now it works Mouselike? _________________

I have the same issue on my Dell 1521. When I first got it and was running Vista, it had the same annoying action. In Vista I was able to turn off the tap to click feature. Then I was forced to use the touch pad buttons to do my clicking. That solved the touch pad over sensitvity problem. Now that I have Xandros 4 on the computer, I am back to having the same problem with the touch pad. It does seem as though there must be some way to reduce it's sensitvity or to turn off the tap to click function. I just haven't been able to find it. _________________ Steve Taylor |

I found another post that mentioned a program called ksynaptics. I loaded it from Xandros Networks and it put an entry in Control Center:Peripherals:Touch Pad. this seemed like a great solution as it had all the controls that would seem to fix these problems. Unfortunately, once I made a change, turning off the click function, the touch pad cease working entirely. No matter what I did from then on, I couldn't get the touch pad to work again. I had to go back to XN and remove ksynaptics. Then I rebooted and the touch pad function was back. Maybe there's a newer version of this program that will work. I'll keep looking. _________________ Steve Taylor |

I made a switch to Kubuntu 7.04 to try to get my sound working. I did get it to work so I then tried ksynaptics in Kubuntu and it works fine. I have turn off tap to click entirely and I am a happy camper. I don't know why it didn't work in Xandros but, with a little experimenting, it should be possible to get it to work. It adds a section in xorg.conf for the touch pad that has several options. Probably something in there would make it work. _________________ Steve Taylor |

Running Kubuntu amd64 here also on my amd64 x2 Dell 1501. Simply because I Like running the 64bit kernel and Xandros doesn't have one.
Also I must admit that the Kubuntu amd64 readlily recognized my hardware from install and Xandros 32bit didn't on all accounts. Regarding the Synaptic touchpad, I have run it on all my Dells for so long I have just become accustom to working with a lighter Touchpad touch, I guess. _________________
