Do nothing to iso which you downloaded.
or check the file volinfo.txt to find the part's name |

OK! I got it to work. Its pretty cool. The video si running chopy a little, I wonder why.
First I burned a new cd with my volinfo.txt information (from the ISO file) and then I hit space bar and choose VERSA configuration at the very begining fo the install. I can switch back and forth from Xandros to Windows easily.
Questions: why does xandros run 96 processes after install?
can I eliminate some of those processes?
I thought it was supposed to run faster than windows! |

Hi bgs and welcome to "Xandros" user forums!
The "iso not found" issue appears on "XD 4.0" and certain hardware.
Try "XD 4.1" (4.0+SP1) or "4.5" instead. Both are downloadable from

Why does the install fail with "CD Image not found"?
Recently there have been a number of customers reporting that on their new PC's the installation of Xandros has failed and the error “CD Image not found” has been returned.
This appears to be happening mostly on PC's with newer Intel based motherboards.
Recently Intel stopped including their own PATA controller on their motherboards, replacing them with either a PATA controller by J Micron and Marvell. While we have yet to hear if there is a problem with the J Micron controllers we are aware that the current build of Xandros Desktop does not include the drivers for the Marvell controller.
Therefore Xandros has released an alternate boot image that will allow customers to install Xandros Desktop 4.x on systems with these PATA controllers.
You can find the image at
http://support.xandros.com/downloads/desktop_4.0/experimental/XD4_MARVELL.iso
Simply burn the image to CD by following the instructions at
http://www.xandros.com/products/howtoburn.html
Boot from the alternate boot image CD.
When prompted, remove the alternate boot image and insert the original Xandros Installation CD and hit <enter>
The installation will now continue. |

I griped at Xandros Support for about 2 months trying to get a solution to this EXACT same problem.
I tried all their workarounds. No Soap.
On my Dell Inspiron 1545 they claimed it was because both my DVD ROM and HDD were Sata and they said they didn't support Sata.
I found an Old Acer 5100 Laptop that had a Sata HDD but an IDE DVD ROM same thing.
I'd about gave up, Support just told me SORRY???
Then I came here and right under my Nose I found this, I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes...
Thanks maybe there's hope for me yet... _________________ There's "THREE" things I "NEVER" discuss.

Did you also test the newer "Desktop 4.5"? Available here:
First DVD: (xandros_4.5/SDK-2008.03.03_06.30-4.5-oc-i386_cdr.iso)
Or the latest, updated and bugfixed CD: (xandros-45OCE-kenux.iso)
Both available from: http://www.geekconnection.org/
Downloads > Xandros Downloads > Xandros OCE ISO Files
And second DVD release (EeePC-SDK-2008.04.24_19.46.iso) from:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=215613 |
Hey Thanks for the warm Welcome.
No I hadn't known about the Newer Versions that you'd mentioned.
But I'll be sure to check them out soon and I'll be sure to Post back.
Again Thanks. _________________ There's "THREE" things I "NEVER" discuss.
