Xandros Networks, which is the tool that does the actual installing of RPM and DEB files, requires an Internet connection. Some packages may require dependencies which are not present in the package.XN will attempt to download them from the Xandros repositories. It cannot contact the repositories if you are offline. So, the short answer is.....connect to the Internet before attempting to install packages. Hope this helps. Ben _________________

If the DEB or RPM you downloaded is "complete", you can use XN
to install it.
-> XN
-> file
-> install DEB (or RPM) file
(I'm not on Xandros box - but syntax is probably fairly close)

You can also "Open Console Window" from "Xandros Filemanager"
by type: "dpkg -i <packagename>.deb" (without qoutes) logged as
administrator and hit "Enter" key. The package then installs if it
doesnt need any dependies.
