Anyone tried running Outcast in Xandros ?
And were you able to cope with the glitches Wikipedia mentions ? |

I installed it though crossover just tonight I can play it but no sound,
and I do not know how to change the sound driver as yet. I am just starting to test games, outcast was the first. the game can't detect any sound card and it asks me if I stall want to play without sound, this was in a windows pop up box. I wonder if I could install the sound driver which is onboard card. the sound driver it has I think was oss. this si the first time I even used crossover.
here is my lspic

Maybe this will help:

The only sound driver I could find was:
/home/username/.cxoffice/default/config.4.1
| Quote: | [WinMM]
; Wine supports the following sound drivers:
; winearts.drv ; for KDE
; winealsa.drv ; for ALSA users
; wineoss.drv ; for OSS
; winejack.drv ; for Jack sound server (experimental)
; winenas.drv ; for NAS sound system (experimental)
; wineaudioio.drv ; for Solaris machines (experimental)
; The Drivers field defines which sound drivers to try and in which order.
; Set it to an empty string to disable sound.
"Drivers" = "wineoss.drv"
"WaveMapper" = "msacm.drv"
"MidiMapper" = "midimap.drv"
[WineOSS]

As to whether this is the correct file, I don't know, as there is no 6.0 version of this file with this kind of data in it.
Hope this gives you something to start with, as Crossover never really gave me any problems running winamp in it.
With video games, you have to try different sound drivers from within the game itself in order to get that game's sound working in Cedega, so I imagine it's the same story in Crossover; stick with 2D sound & avoid 3D sound/EAX, as wine doesn't have any kind of surround/3D sound as far as I know. _________________ Linux simply works for me...

You might need a no-cd patch; these are questionably legal in some countries, but sometimes it's the only way to a get a game working in WINE.

Transgaming isn't what it's cracked up to be; if the game isn't on their supported list with a "*" beside it then you're on your own. _________________ Linux simply works for me...
