|
|
From Sebastian Trug: | Quote: | Hi folks,
I am proud to announce the release of K3b 1.0. After years and years of
development, all the sweat (actually in the summer it can get sticky in front
of the screen), all the tears (ok, admittedly, not that many), and all the
countless hours I spent on a single application finally we have what I think
is worth the big 1. K3b has come a long way since the early days in 1998 when
it started as a dummy project for me to learn C++ and QT development. The
reason for that (besides my hacking) is the amazing feedback I got from the
open source community and especially all the KDE worshipers. Give yourself a
hand. Without all of you K3b would not have lived this long.
Please visit the K3b new page http://www.k3b.org for a full announcement and a
detailed ChangeLog.
Have fun,
Sebastian |
I think we all know what a fantastic program K3B is. I tried to install it from source, got a good configure, but make failed. Hopefully someone much more experienced than me can package it up for all Xandrosians to enjoy.

"Debian Unsupported Site" hosts the old K3B 0.11.20 version.
X.OR.ID have 0.12.16 and Archlug 0.12.17. Version 1.0 is new.

It's pretty nice from what I can see (though I have not used it yet). |
Same here (X3.0.3 Business). I'm trying to compile it, but when I run ./configure, I get the following:
checking for KDE... configure: error:
in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.
So, check this please and use another prefix!
How do I fix this? If I can get past this part, I can then run checkinstall -D and make a Debian package. _________________ once you go Tux, Gates won't get your bucks. |

growisofs is integrated in DVD+-RW/R tools which is available from backports:
http://www.backports.org/backports.org/pool/main/d/dvd+rw-tools/dvd+rw-tools_7.0-4~bpo.1_i386.deb
| Quote: | DVD+-RW/R tools
dvd+rw-tools makes it possible to burn DVD images created by dvdauthor or
mkisofs to DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, and DVD-RW disks, replacing cdrecord-proDVD
in many cases.
The package contains:
* growisofs to burn DVD images or create a data DVD on the fly
* dvd+rw-format to format a DVD+RW
* dvd+rw-mediainfo to give details about DVD disks
and some programs to control the write speed and obtain information from
DVD-RAM. |
Does it work to 100%? There are some warnings... By the way, is there any
Linux easy-to-use GUI software to convert BIN to ISO files?

I'm getting this message: cdrecord <2>= 2.6.8
Since Linux kernel 2.6.8 cdrecord <= 2.01.01a05 will not work when run suid root for security reasons anymore.
Solution: Use K3bSetup to solve this problem.
cdrdao will be run without root privileges
It is highly recommended to configure cdrdao to run with root privileges to increase the overall stability of the burning process.
Solution: Use K3bSetup to solve this problem. It shows K3BSetup 2 nothing happens when I click on it. _________________ [img]http://img406.imag

I'll get with jimallyn and see if we can figure it out...
I can't work on it right now because I'm at work on a Windoze workstation. _________________ geekydude

K3B was built with Xandros 4.1, and likely won't work on Xandros 3....
Does this problem occur with anyone using Xandros 4.1, or are you folks using Xandros 3.x or 4.0 (or earlier)? _________________ geekydude

I hadn't run into that problem, as all I had burned was music CDs. Apparently the new version of growisofs is needed for burning DVDs. I am working on compiling dvd+rw-tools (which contains growisofs) for Xandros 4 now and will make it available if I am successful.
I also get the message "cdrecord will be run without root privileges" and the invitation to start k3bsetup2, which doesn't start. I also got this in previous versions of k3b, and I ignored it with no problems, which was what I planned on continuing to do now. I searched the k3b website for any mention of k3bsetup and found nothing.
