I was just on windows media center watching tv since I have been unable to get tv time to work.

However, now I want to get it working, every time I click on it within xandros 4, it opens and immediately closes. I have a radeon x1300 512megs video card.

Any suggestions or am I out of luck.

I can't get tvtime to work either. I opened up a ticket with Support and after trying to get it to work I was told that the "soon to be released" service pack should fix the issue with tvtime.

Well, you can try my build of it here... http://www.vogelefamily.info/xandros/tvtime/tvtime-1.0.1.deb Uninstall your tvtime package first, of course.

You'll have to make your own shortcut or menu entry for it, but typing 'tvtime' should bring it up if your card is supported (please delete your .tvtime directory before starting to allow tvtime to regenerate a new one).. This was built on 4.0. It may or may not work on 3.0.

When I get more time, I'll see why the menu entries don't generate even though the package contains them. Hope this helps.

today I am attempting to get tvtime working...

first, I removed tvtime via XN network
then via XN network installed your .deb

I get picture, can not change channels and have no sound. The controls work, ie: uparrow changes channel numbers and right arrow displays volume increase. But I have no sound and the channel shown is whatever I was last watching while in windows.

with dmesg I see card detected card=0 tuner=-1

I try rmmod bttv and or rmmod tuner
both reply: Module bttv is in use by bt878

so I am unable to modprobe bttv card=# tuner=#

thanks for any help you can offer

Hmm, interesting.. Wonder if the service pack includes a kernel update or not.. .. lemmie see the specs on your card, and see if your tuner is supported by the current kernel. It should be if its a bt878-based card... To do that, please type lspci and post the output.

Try installing xawtv and see if you can change channels with that.. Its ugly, but if it works it'll narrow down the problem.

more information...

On XN 4.1 xawtv seems to install, but double click and nothing

I also have Xandros 3.02 Premium on another partition, rebooted to it

xawtv installs and gives oicture (of last viewed channel while in XP)
no volume (is unmuted) and can't change channels

tvtime installed from XN networks, click and I get nothing, prgm does not start

actually I am not sure of the card type or tuner type, I even pulled the card and looked thinking it might be marked. It is a cheapie but works fine in windows. This is a link to a site selling the card
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-tv01.htm

actually I'd be willing to just buy a card that works out of the box, if I knew what one.

Is this ver4 without SP1? Have you installed the service pack yet? This problem was an issue the X4 home but was fixed in the Pro ver. and should be fixed by the service pack.

Hi,

This was on the trial of 4.1 pro
Yesterday my 30 day trial ran out and I formatted the partition. I would have liked to 'upgrade' but tho I managed to get 3D desktop working, I missed the boat re tvtime.

Today I am in the process of installing (again) XN4 home premium. I just finished adding SP1. I'll try adding 3D desktop, then tvtime.

I will try tvtime in XN4 SP1 before the day is out.

In the past three years, I have paid Xandros over 150 bucks with each new version... sort of annoyed me when the trial "shut down". Even Vista allows one to "rearm" the trial 3 times

I installed PCLinuxOS in a spare partition the other day.... I haven't paid them a penny and everything works ! (except tvtime) None of the 'quirks' I have run into the past 3 years. Even media player video's play... A very nice distro, if only they had a file manager I liked, I'd use my XN cd's for coasters Smile

Help redum Smile

I have been working with this a few days....

from another site, I got the info to add this to modprobe.conf
I use this card. Here's my /etc/modprobe.conf:
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
options bttv pll=1 radio=0 bttv_verbose=1 card=13 tuner=2

I did not have a modprobe.conf but added it to modules.conf
I removed the radio=0

strange results....
I have video fine, can change channels
When I start tvtime, or change a channel, I get a second of sound
if I press M for mute, I get sound ok
if I change channels, a second of sound, then quiet, but press M again and I have sound

also the sound is out of sync / lags, by a half second or so and is slightly distorted
