| Greetings: There are several radio stations I would like to listen to online. Unfortunately, they are streamed through Abacast, who does not provide a version of their client software for Linux (or Mac). However, the "support" people at Abacast said I should be able to listen to these stations with a media player that will play the windoze Media format. Anybody know of a suitable player available for Linux that will play this stuff? (P.S. Yes, I have written to these stations and suggested that they use another format that does not require the use of the proprietary formats of a convicted monopolist.) |

I installed mplayer, and it does indeed play those files. Thanks for the tip. I also found I can run the windoze media player with CrossoverOffice wine, and play those files that way, but oh, how I hate to do that!

Oh yes, I forgot the CrossOver-thing... well I do not use it - except for Quicktime (for Sorensen3-Videos) .... |
