anyone have any positive experience with external USB Midi ports?
I have X4 installed on my laptop that is used for music recording and I'd like to be able to access my midi devices as well.
specifically looking for folks who have used:
M-Audio MidiSport 2x2
Edirol UM-2EX 1x2 USB MIDI Interface or
Yamaha UX16 USB/MIDI Cable
anyone w/ working experience i'd love to hear from you
thanks

I've got a Yamaha DGX-505 keyboard that is recognized on my laptop. I had to to get it to show up in Control Panel/Sound & Multimedia/Sound System. I've added snd_seq to /etc/modules.
I haven't yet been able to get jackd running so I can't hook my keyboard to rosegarden (and use qjackctl). I'm working on that as I get time. (At this point, it is not as drop-dead simple as was Xan3.) |

It helps if you load the package jackd ( ) - and then reload libjack0.80.0.0 |

I've put these lines in /etc/modules | Code: | snd_seq_midi
snd_seq_oss | Now, after rebooting, I can input/output to my midi keyboard using rosegarden4. |
