No sister, let me wrap up this post by simply stating.... Who the fsck cares about whether you are a girl, whether you are too poor or too cheap to buy a new computer, and whether you are a man-hating lesbian?

None of us care!

You are right in that she was a bit flippant but..........

I don't want to throw kerosene on this one but that was an uncalled for comment..

What is going on with you tonight ..Are you running FreeBSD. Very Happy .??

Not to be obtuse my good sql, but I simply cannot apologize for what I feel by in large is a factual statement... I.E. None of us care what someone has to say unless it contributes to the community as a whole.

I remember seeing statements like hers on the old Windows gamer boards I visited long ago... I thought I'd never have to see that crap again, since by and large, in the linux community there are certainly rude people, but they either are rude because they are frustrated and can't figure something out, or they're rude because they are frustrated that someone can't figure out how to get the info for themselves, but nevertheless they still offer some advice on how to get the problem solved. Both cases are by and large rare, and for that I'm grateful for sure.

l33t haxx00rs just aren't my bag, especially if they have nothing to say and they make a point of berating people or by telling me their gender... Like anyone on the androgynous and equalizing 'net cares. Bottom line is we are all people, and deserve to be treated as people... Gender has nothing to do with anything unless someone is out to prove something by it. In that case, if you bring up gender and you are 'gender-bashed' you just got what you asked for... You wanted to be treated special, so now you have been... 'magine my surprise.

I'm an eye for an eye kind of person... In fact, I'm probably more tame than that.. I'll deal with the rude by and large, but I won't deal with liars, 'look at me's' or 'you're so dumbs'... period.

If you took offense to the statement, sqlpython, I apologize that it caused you to feel that way, as that was not its intent... It's intent was to prove a point... That even on the net, if you shovel sh*t on someone, you're bound to be in the manure business yourself. As for the statement itself, I have no regrets for having said it, since for me at least it serves its purpose.

As for what is going on with me tonight... If it seemed out of character for me, it was meant to.... No I'm happily still using Xandros exclusively. Smile

Thanks for the Reply..

I always have to respect one who stands by their statements..

Regarding an apology to me..unneccessary...Just being a Sign Post "Speed Limit"

Probably being a bit sensitive to the statement as a FreeBSDer in the Nineties, you had to put on an Asbestos Suit to go into those Forums.. Laughing

I saw the post quite a while ago but didn't bother replying because the post seemed to be a invitation to a flamefest. There are too many little clues in it that its a phony comeon to be believable.
Anyway my original comments were about Quake4, not about any of the other games that were mentioned. You might also note that never is anything mentioned about what OS was used by the author.

I bought Quake 4 and was quite happy to find that Id Software had released the Linux version within a week of the retail box. I have a decent system and it runs beautifully in both Linux and MS Windows. I don't honestly see why some of you are complaining. Confused

I wasn't complaining about it, just stating the facts regarding how it performed on that system. It ran like a pig.
I still have the game but haven't reloaded it. I have noticed there have been a few updates since the initial release, perhaps the updates have addressed some of the performance issues.
My biggest complaint is the fact that ID Software did not include the release of the Linux version on the disk. I think we Linux users have paid our dues long enough and deserve equal treatment in software releases.

Fair enough. On mine it ran like a gazelle. Wink

Although I agree, and Epic has done well with UT2003/2004 in the past, I think getting pissed at Id at this point is silly. Yes, it would be nice but they didn't do it. Id was one of the first and only companies to release Linux versions of their games since the first DOOM. I don't mind if the Linux version isn't on the CD. I'm just glad they continue to make one.
