Anyone here use apt-proxy with Xandros boxes? I use it extensively with woody and sarge and it works great. I can't get it to work with Xandros though. Any ideas?

I asked Xandros support about this - they were worthless. They kept thinking I was talking about a network proxy Confused

More info on apt-proxy:
apt-cache show apt-proxy

I don't see why it wouldn't.

Unless it is very much tied to the specific structure of the official debian apt pooled repositories, which are quite different than the Xandros ones.

Maybe that's why it won't work with the Xandros repositories.

I'm interested in using it, but haven't had the time to spend investigating.
It would let me mirror the XN repositories on ArchLUG, as well as matty's and a couple of other people's repositories.

I have a feeling there is a simple solution but I just can't figure it out so far.

Setting up repositories for apt-proxy are a snap (normally). The syntax is like this:

--------------------------------------------------

[debian]
backends =
http://debian.ethz.ch/mirror/debian
http://ftp.at.debian.org/debian
ftp://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian

[non-US]
backends =
http://debian.ethz.ch/mirror/debian-non-US
ftp://mirror.switch.ch/mirror/debian-non-US
http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian-non-US

--------------------------------------------------

Then, in your client's /etc/apt/sources.list you put this:

--------------------------------------------------

deb http://your.apt.proxy:9999/debian sarge main non-free contrib
deb http://your.apt.proxy:9999/non-US sarge/non-US main non-free contrib

--------------------------------------------------

I left out some repositories to keep it simple.

Multiple repositories can be defined as above. If one fails it tries the next one. With "normal" repositories you can look at them first with a web browser and see if they are valid or what the structure is. I cannot do this with the Xandros repositories though - I get a "403 forbidden" error.

So I think it may just be a matter on re-arranging the configuration until the magic sequence is found. I have tried this so far (DOES NOT WORK):

--------------------------------------------------

[xandros3]
backends=http://xnv3.xandros.com/3.0/pkg

deb http://my.apt.proxy:9999/xandros3 xandros3.0-xn main contrib non-free
deb http://my.apt.proxy:9999/xandros3 unsupported3.0-xn main contrib non-free

--------------------------------------------------

If anyone finds the correct way to do this please post!
